Topic: General Theme Installation Instructions

Upload Theme Files

  1. Download the theme archive and extract the files it contains. You may need to preserve the directory structure in the archive when extracting these files.

  2. Using an FTP client to access your host web server, upload all theme files and their containing folder to the wp-content/themes directory provided by WordPress. e.g. wp-content/themes/themefolder

  3. Follow the instructions below for selecting the new theme.

Activate The Theme

  1. Log in to the WordPress Administration Control Panel.

  2. Expand the Appearance tab, then select Themes.

  3. From the Available Themes section, click on theme title (or theme screenshot) for the theme you wish to activate.

  4. A preview of the theme will be shown to activate theme click the Activate "Theme Name" link in the top right.

Re: General Theme Installation Instructions

Jason,

I purchased your theme and am attempting to install today. I've walked through the cPanel instruction on Wordpress at least 5 different times to make sure I am doing it correctly, but something isn't right.

I have the option in my WP dashboard to select the OnDemand theme, but there is no screen shot, and when I click it the screen is blank.

Please advise ASAP.

Re: General Theme Installation Instructions

What version of WordPress are you running? How did you install WordPress? 1 Click install? How did you upload the On Demand theme?

Re: General Theme Installation Instructions

Hi.  We have installed your theme on our blog, RunTellmanRun.com
It works except that it doesn't display the videos on the main page, even though the category I selected is the correct one for our videos.  We are running the latest version of Wordpress (just upgraded yesterday).  What could be wrong?  Thanks.

Re: General Theme Installation Instructions

Make sure all your video's are categorized as "video". If they are categorized as "video", make sure that the "video" category has a category slug of "video".

Jason

Re: General Theme Installation Instructions

Thanks for the prompt response!  I added "video" as a category (both as name and slug) and added it to every video post.  Still nothin'.  Any other ideas what might be up?

Re: General Theme Installation Instructions

I notice on the demo you're using embedded vimeo vids.  Will this work for YouTube vids as well?  Maybe that's the issue.  I can get the videos to display down below the video box as the posts, or under the category view.  Just not in that box.

Re: General Theme Installation Instructions

No... any embeddable video format works with TV Elements. Make sure that you have properly set your blog category ID as well within the options page.

Re: General Theme Installation Instructions

Im wondering why in my Highest Rated Video sidebar all of the posts on my blog are listed there. Even though I havent listed them all as feature or video. Some of them havent been rated but they are still there. I have followed the post ratting plugin configuration to the letter. Im I missing something?

Re: General Theme Installation Instructions

You aren't missing something. This is a question I get quite often by people who first start using the theme. Basically, as you add video to your site and as they get rated, the other post in the "highest rated" video widget will disappear.

Re: General Theme Installation Instructions

If you have a free wordpress account can you still use these templates?

Re: General Theme Installation Instructions

As stated within the Purchase Terms and Conditions:

WordPress provides a number of quality themes that can be used on their free hosted accounts, but my themes are not included at the moment. If you are a current WordPress.com account holder, you will need to optiain a self hosted domain (capable of supporting WordPress) before using my themes.

Re: General Theme Installation Instructions

Hi Jason.  I've followed your installation instructions for Cafe Press.  I've downloaded a couple of times and uploaded a couple of times.  I'm still getting this: http://abowlofgood.com/erniestuff/
I'm using 2.7.1 WP.  Kind of frustrated.  Can't wait to see it work!

Re: General Theme Installation Instructions

I looks like some files have become corrupted either upon extraction or upload. Would you mind providing me with FTP access to your site so that I can give it a try?

Jason

Re: General Theme Installation Instructions

Jason
Have you received my FTP info per your request?   I'm still looking at a corrupted file CafePress more than 24 hours later.  Please advise as to the status.  I'm starting to get nervous.  Please let me know what I can do - if anything.

Re: General Theme Installation Instructions

I did not receive any FTP info from you yesterday. Where did you send it to? Please forward to "jason@press75.com" and I will look as soon as possible this morning.

Re: General Theme Installation Instructions

Hi Jason,

I installed the folio-elements theme but when I add a post or video, it doesn't appear on the website. The site is mominbhatti.com . Thanks in advance.

Re: General Theme Installation Instructions

Hello, i purchased and downloaded one of your themes (urban elements) today, uploaded to a new directory in /Themes.  When i selected your theme from within WP i got a weird display and the following errors:

Warning: include_once(D:\Hosting\3940474\html\wordpress/wp-content/themes/urbanelements/functions/optionsadd.php) [function.include-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in D:\Hosting\3940474\html\wordpress\wp-content\themes\urbanelements\functions.php on line 1

Warning: include_once() [function.include]: Failed opening 'D:\Hosting\3940474\html\wordpress/wp-content/themes/urbanelements/functions/optionsadd.php' for inclusion (include_path='.;C:\php5\pear') in D:\Hosting\3940474\html\wordpress\wp-content\themes\urbanelements\functions.php on line 1

I am using WP 2.7.1, hosted by GoDaddy, which i installed using their 1 click install.

The theme does not display properly: http://getmodo.com/wordpress/

Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: General Theme Installation Instructions

This question should have been posted within the Urban Elements forum. Either way, it looks like something may have been lost during the upload process. You might want to try and re-upload all theme files.

Re: General Theme Installation Instructions

Jason,

I am attempting to start a blog for young veterans and came across your charred template. Your other templates are great and I will upgrade ASAP. The eblog site had a link for instructions but it was broken. Particularly for changing the title. Is there anyway I could get you to send those to me. I would greatly appreciate it and promise I will be back soon.

Re: General Theme Installation Instructions

To be honest... I don't think I even have usage instructions for the charred template any more. I will do some looking around.

Re: General Theme Installation Instructions

I currently uploaded urban theme and came up with an error that I'm missing a stylesheet. (I have gone through this process three times) I was wondring if you can lead me in the right direction. I'm running Word Press 2.71. And with my host unable to upgrade to the 2.8 at this time.

Error Message:

Broken Themes
The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.

Name Description
Stylesheet is missing.

Warm Regards
Shaun

This question should have been posted within the Urban Elements forum. Either way, it sounds like you may have uploaded the wrong folder. Pay close attention to the setup and usage instructions when uploading the theme.
